JOSHUA HAWKINS SC-CEM

Joshua Hawkins serves as the Director of Emergency Management for Anderson County, South Carolina, under the leadership of Anderson County Sheriff Chad McBride.

As Director, Hawkins leads the County's emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts. With more than 17 years of experience in the fire service, emergency medical response, technical rescue, HazMat, and incident command, he brings a wealth of operational knowledge and leadership to his role.

​

Hawkins is responsible for coordinating the County's emergency management initiatives, maintaining and updating emergency operations plans, strengthening mutual aid agreements, and fostering partnerships with municipalities, neighboring counties, state and federal agencies, and public safety organizations. His work focuses on enhancing Anderson County's ability to prepare for, respond to, recover from, and mitigate the impacts of disasters and emergencies.

Prior to becoming Director, Hawkins served as the Deputy Director of Emergency Management for the Anderson County Sheriff's Office and as a firefighter/engineer with the Anderson City Fire Department.

​

In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Hawkins continues to serve in the field and maintains experience and qualifications as a firefighter, Emergency Medical Responder, Advanced Swift-water Technician,  Rescue Technician, HazMat Technician, Rescue Diver, High Angle Rope Rescue Technician, Tactical Flight Observer, and FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot.
